OI-M3-W3305 Medium Pulsed Plasma Cannon

The OI-M3-W3305 Medium Pulsed Plasma Cannon was designed in YE 33 to be used as a frame's heavy anti-mecha weapon and light anti-ship weapon, built for long distance precision use.

The Medium Pulsed Plasma Cannon is a rapidly cooled, plasma beam based sniper rifle analog for Origin's mecha. It is a high damage, high precision weapon suited for long range engagements. One key feature of the weapon is the cooling system, which is extremely robust. However, the cooling system is not perfect. No matter what mode of fire, after 10 seconds of continuous firing the weapon initiates a 5-second cooling mode.

For long durations of continuous operation, the weapon system may be hooked up to a coolant pump which attaches to a port under the vents and can be further augmented with a continuous gas supply. The adapter for the continuous gas supply is nearly identical to a standard magazine save for the reinforced pressure hose for simplicity and familiarity.

Caution must be exercised as the vaporizing coolant is exceedingly hot, and the glare from the 24mm beam it fires can light things on fire in a 15-meter radius, provided the weapon system is fired for extended periods of time. In addition, continuous use past 60 seconds will cause the weapon system to catastrophically fail, even with the coolant pump.

The body, though massive, is extremely durable due to thin layers of Nerimium for its body, further reinforced with an ADNR lattice, allowing it to survive large amounts of abuse. It is equipped with contemporary advanced electronic fire control systems, and an analog trigger should it fail.

While powerful and portable, this weapon is also expensive; to reduce the cost of construction, the weapon is not fully miniaturized.

The MPPC is a beam weapon. Range is severely impacted by use in an atmosphere because of atmospheric bloom.

• Firing Mechanism:At any given time plasma from the fusion reactors is stored in an internal chamber, which can be completely filled once every second. This plasma is then drawn through the barrel and projected into a coherent beam via an electromagnetic pulse which is fired along with the plasma.
• Loading: The MPPC's fusion reactor fuel supply may be swapped out by sliding open a panel on the rear of the stock of the weapon and twisting the fuel tank out of place. Each fuel supply is enough to provide roughly 20 shots.
