The ITMS is a system that was developed in YE 27, when the Norians began to grow their own Leviathans. It revolutionized the former electrical cluster system by preventing energy loss during transfer to major conventional systems, and also created the energy interface for the creation of Leviathan synthetic nutrient system. The system has been a reliable mainstay on vessels created with little change over the years, save for fittings to connect to changing dimensional tap designs, such as the Kena-rsi Dimensional Tap Reactors released in YE 46.
The ITMS is simply a power transfer system that transports dimensional plasma, such as Aether or Asune plasma to the ship's subsystem. The plasma is conducted through a series of pipes, then converted into electricity for subsystems. Most larger vessels and facilities are equipped with primary and a redundant secondary matrix.
On hybridized and other Leviathans the ITMS system serves a delivery to small fabrication units scattered throughout the vessel that convert energy to matter. In this particular instance, the matter created is a slurry if biosynthetic nutrients utilized to nourish the biological components of the vessel, including the mindhives.
The ITMS system requires maintenance on a bi-yearly basis. Every two years, the system is purged, deenergized and cleaned for the removal of contaminants and to check the overall structure of the system to identify any damaged or worn components. In the event the system is damaged while in service, sections can be sealed off from the rest of the system, or the redundancy is utilized to reach the subsystems that are affected.
