History and Background

During the Craethel War (YE 40 - YE 44), the MERN and Norian Continuum found themselves at a technological disadvantage to the superior Craethel forces. Princess Aerum Eitan, the owner of Lux Aurora and her teams of engineers and technicians searched for answers to close the gap. Unfortunately the break through came too late. In YE 44, the final year of the war, a breakthrough occurred in which the teams at Lux Aurora discovered an improved Leviathan genome sequence that increased the survivability of hybrid vessels. This led to the 11th Generation of Hybrid ships being constructed during the following two years. In YE 46, when the construction of 12th Generation hybrid vessels commenced, the same design was utilized.

Function and Design

The design of most hybridized Leviathan starships is a complex multi-layer system.

External Armor Plates

The outermost layer is composed of an interlocking 1) reinforced niranium plate armor with a coating composed of a quantum-infused ceramic layer. The coating has a complex hexagonal arranged graphene and carbon nanotube lattice infused with quantum dots that are configured to absorb radiation2) and can be configured to create an optical cloaking effect and change the hull color3) and markings. This is inset into a nanoscopic grid of molybdenum and standard niranium filaments to provide additional structure and protection from some radiation. The 'spaces' then between all these components are filled with an annealing nanopolymer composite to provide repair for stress related fatigue.4)

The next layer is composed of a thin foil of chromium designed to be a smooth, non-reactive layer which coats a 5cm thick L'ulorsha Weave (Type I) layer which is nearly puncture-proof nested on a 1 cm thick layer of the same self-annealing nanopolymer composite infused with femtomachines designed as a redundancy to the previous layer made of the same composite. The base of this layer is another interlocking 5) reinforced niranium plate. Electron-beam welding secures the layers together.

Stealth Coating

Sometimes secondary coating of Eclipsium is given on the outer-most surface of the external hull layers for increased stealth on Yaducath Intelligence operated vessels that are of the gunship, escort or scout classes.

Spaceframe

The primary spaceframe is generally composed of an interlocking Leviathan Husk framework with a reinforced niranium matrix that creates a secondary framework and foundation for the external hull layers and housing for the biologically engineered Leviathan body form grows/graphs/hybridizes into. Integration of these layers and Leviathan genome selection requires the oversight of mindhives to ensure that the grafting procedure is done ethically and within the accord between the United Norian Imperium and their Leviathans.6) The innermost sections of the reinforced niranium secondary framework is then Electron-beam welded to the internal framework.

Internal Hull Layers

The internal hull layers start with a L'ulorsha Weave (Type I) quilt with standard niranium filaments in sections where the spaceframe is Electron-beam welded and grafted to the inner framework and Leviathan Husk structures. This framework is also the frame for the internal compartments of the vessel. Integrated systems are nested into the frame work and covered with nanopolymer composite panels that can be opened for maintenance and repair operations.
