Psychological Characteristics

Personality: Takahiro has taken great pains to fashion himself after the classic delinquent, both in appearance and demeanor. He is rude, blunt, quick to anger and even quicker to fight. However, underneath this rough exterior is an honest, thoughtful, and straightforward man who masks his genuine compassion and bravery with feigned indifference and ignorance. While he may seem to be the stereotypical rebel without a cause, he sincerely and passionately wants to make a change for the better in Nepleslia's political and social system. He dreams of one day being able to pursue his more artistic and philosophical inclinations peacefully in a more enlightened society, rather than having to fight for justice in an incompetent and corrupt system. Takahiro will never turn a blind eye to anyone in need of help. This extends even further for his friends: if you've earned his respect or admiration, he will stay by your side through hell and high water.

History

Family (or Creators)

Jaime Briggs (father, ID-SOL), Yukari Sunadori (mother, Yamataian)

Pre-RP

Jaime Briggs and Yukari Sunadori met while Nepleslia was still a part of Yamatai, and instantly were attracted to one another. They were married a year after meeting and had a baby boy soon after, Takahiro. Unfortunately, when Nepleslia seceded from Yamatai, Jaime and Yukari found that they were more loyal to their own countries than to each other. After a long dispute, Jaime forcibly took Takahiro to Nepleslia to live with him, and ever since the boy has resented him for it, taking his mother's maiden name as a sign of his rebellion against his father.

So Takahiro grew up in Nepleslia, a harsh and brutal environment for a young boy. After being mugged by some street punks when coming home from school, Jaime decided to make the boy into a man. Knowing the boy's genes gave him incredible physical potential, he put Takahiro through a hellish training regimen, teaching him hand-to-hand combat first and foremost. It was Jaime's specialty, after all, and he already saw the beginnings of a prodigy in Takahiro. Though his father made him an unparalleled fighter, Takahiro's resentment simply grew stronger and stronger. True, after knocking all the teeth out of one kid's mouth, the bullies left him alone, but no one would talk to him out of fear. Takahiro would come to blame his father for his friendless childhood and his subsequent descent into a life of fighting and delinquency. Having no allies and knowing little else but how to use his fists, Takahiro became a thug out of necessity. Without a clearly defined role in society, he was a nobody, he thought, worthless and ignored. So Takahiro made himself known as the toughest guy around, a guy no one would mess with.

As he grew older and other kids started joining gangs and becoming delinquents themselves, he attracted a new crowd. Kids who wanted him in their gang, knowing the street cred he held and how his reputation would boost their image. However, Takahiro knew that he was much stronger as an individual. He knew that subordinating his identity to a larger group would weaken his image, make him seem like just another cog in a machine, less defined and less powerful. So he refused, and thus Takahiro continued a lone existence. Though people perceived this as misanthropy, Takahiro was never mean. Rude, yes, but he never preyed on those who were weaker than he was or committed any serious crimes. Whenever a gang member brought this up, or insinuated that Takahiro was soft in any way, they were soon met by the brutal wrath of Takahiro's fists. Yet Takahiro knew that he was different from the others. He didn't have their baseness or coldness. Once again, he found himself at the verge of losing himself, without a clear identity. If he wasn't a delinquent, what was he?

Deciding to find answers, he borrowed books from his school on philosophy, specifically identity. Reading extensively in existentialism, he realized that he didn't have to conform to some societal role in order to have an identity, but that he could define himself in any way he chose by simply acting authentically to himself. Reinvigorated, Takahiro took a stand against the Nepleslian social issues that had secretly bothered him for so long. He had new hope for meeting his mother someday in a world where Nepleslia and Yamatai had a better relationship and the world was fair and equal for everyone. However, this new passion was cut short by his father, who had caught wind of these aspirations and was convinced what he needed was some discipline from the military. He was promptly shipped off to basic.

Skills

Communications

Takahiro is familiar with basic radio operation. He is fluent in Nepleslian and Yamataian, and can read and write both languages.

Fighting

Despite his secret desire for a more cultured life, Takahiro has found that sometimes it's easier to let his fists do the talking. And boy, do they talk. Having been trained by his father from an early age to fight in the styles of boxing and muay thai, having spent much of his life brawling on the mean streets of Nepleslia, and then receiving training in the military, Takahiro is an excellent and experienced fighter. His tremendous physical strength and endurance are only surpassed by his blinding speed, which allows him to strike faster than the eye can see and evade blows a split-second before they land. He is also proficient with pistols of all kinds, knives, and shotguns of all kinds. However, he prefers his good old brass knuckles in a pinch, which nicely supplement his hand-to-hand combat skills. He is also adept at piloting power armor, able to perform advanced maneuvers without the help of the AI.

Survival

Takahiro is able to survive in hostile environments, though he is only barely adequate in this field. He can build a passable shelter, hunt and forage, find water, and build a fire. He also can camouflage himself and is proficient with guerrila warfare. However, given that all these tactics were learned recently, he is still far from experienced and therefore susceptible to making mistakes.

Strategy

Though Takahiro was never much of a thinker in the heat of battle, he has picked up some tactical ability in his training. He is familiar with all commands and can give them out, as well as work with his teammates to carry out these commands. Despite his rebellious streak, Takahiro knows that when locked in a firefight or pinned down by enemies, an act of insubordination could cost the lives of everyone on the team. Therefore, he recognizes the authority of his commander no matter what and always has the team in mind. He can spot ambush points and has enough mathematical ability to calculate distances and can use a map.

Physical

Takahiro, being a hybrid ID-SOL, has physical capabilities that push the boundaries of human limitations. He is strong enough to lift up to 450 kg and punch with 900 lbs of force. He can run at a top speed of 30 mph and maintain that speed for over an hour without slowing down. Takahiro has an aptitude bordering on genius in anything that requires physical strength, athleticism, dexterity, or coordination.

Rogue

Though much of Takahiro's image as a delinquent is more or less an act, one must not forget that he has lived the life of a street tough for many years. As a result, he has learned much about Nepleslia's seedy underbelly: he has numerous street connections as well as a keen understanding of how the underworld works and how to play its game. Though he doesn't like committing actual crimes like stealing or breaking and entering per se, he has the skills to do so unseen and unheard and will do so if the situation calls for it, albeit reluctantly.

Humanities

Takahiro has built up an extensive wealth of knowledge on the topics of sociology and philosophy. His reading on sociology has led him to become somewhat of a crusader for social equality in Nepleslia, advocating better relations between Yamatai and Nepleslia and the eradication of xenophobic prejudice against Yamatai and other species. For philosophy, he is especially interested in existentialism, which led him to seek his true identity beyond the role society had given him at a young age.
