Shinrin Yoku's determination as one of two sole survivors of a Kuvexian attack within the YSS Hana led to the RP, Pyrrhic First Victory being awarded the 2017 Tournament of Simulations prize for Outstanding Original Sci-Fi.

Shinrin Yoku has an short haircut between her ears and shoudler that is white on the bottom and red on top. She has sharp greenish yellow eyes and cream-colored skin. She has a moderate bust, swaying hips, and a tight tummy. She speaks in an even tone most often but when she yells or goes above a standard volume, it is quite shrill. She walks with a very flat, proud gate and can often be seen balling her fists together.

Shinrin Yoku is a cool-headed, sometimes lackadaisical speaker under normal operating procedures. When under duress, though, she is a lightning fast thinker and strategist. She has a tendency to overlook people at times, but not in combat scenarios, when she is at her best.

Shinrin was born in YE 30, served aboard two starships during the wars for around a decade, and then was transferred to the YSS Hana, where she fought the Elefirn with Kage Kasumi "Mist" after their away team was decimated and they were stranded on an installation with no backup and no communication with their ship. She proved an excellent soldier and leader of the two-man team and, once the Hana was to see action again, was promoted to Santô Juni.
