Personality: He is outwardly arrogant, though he is incredibly self-aware and secretly self-critical: perhaps is own harshest critic. He tends to be thoroughly logical rather than emotional; elitist rather than sympathetic. His cruel and insulting sense of humor is often met with silence and resentment. He's very competitive, he must convince himself and others that he maintains some form of superiority over them, and his shortcomings with be dogmatically denied.

Markus is the heir of the Akishino clan. Growing up in Yamataian culture, Markus has never really wanted for anything. The Akishino clan has always held relatively decent standing in society, and their influence has begun to grow in the last twenty years. The clan gains most of its prestige by investing in political campaigns and military projects (essentially the Ketsurui own the factories and runs the projects but the Akishino volunteer to help subsidize the costs). They're able to back these projects because they've generated money by owning a trading company that does business between all of the areas of the Yamataian empire.

Growing up as a child of relative wealth, Markus was taught that he, and the members of his clan, are inherently superior than those of lower standing, and that he should always strive to elevate his social standing. Due to this, he naturally developed a sense of self-worth reaching into arrogance.

He joined the Star Army of Yamatai in hopes of reaching a high commissioned officer's position, in order to bring honor and prestige to his family. His father insisted that he strive for a fighter pilot's position in lieu of a power armor's position as not to risk the only heir to the Akishino clan.

He completed basic and went into flight school expecting himself to be naturally gifted and superior to his peers. His family's status and finances secured him extra training hours with instructors, consequently, good grades. Yet, when it came time for his flight exams, he was always out performed by a fellow cadet, Alec Wyrick. Markus, infuriated at the slight of a country bumpkin like Wyrick daring to steal his rightful prize, decided to pass up on the cushy job he was offered that would not see any combat action. He opted, instead, to follow Wyrick to his squadron to put that MONGREL IN HIS PLACE ONCE AND FOR ALL!

Markus is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions and receive transmissions through headsets, starships, power armor, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat conditions. He has unmatched fluency in the Yamataian language, and he'll reluctantly speak the dirty language of the impoverished and the destitute (Nepleslian) in dire situations.

Better than everyone, especially Wyrick.

Markus received top notch mathematics training from the best teachers that money can buy in algebra and trigonometry. Markus could try to teach you a thing or two about calculus and other areas of higher mathematics, but you wouldn't grasp it, so he'd prefer not to waste his time.

Markus is capable of operating any computer system that uses the Kessaku OS, found on all Star Army starships. He is proficient in entering and/or searching for information.

Markus is undoubtedly destined to become the best Starship fighter pilot in existence because he's clearly the best in his class, despite what some naive academy senior instructors may think about that hack, Wyrick! He is obviously more gifted than that clumsy, talentless, ill-educated, mouth-breathing product of inbreeding!

Few people have the sagely intellectual acuity and saintly patience to understand Markus' studies in Yamataian philosophy, history, and literature. His studies are strictly Yamataian, lest he lobotomize himself with the miserable rot contained in Nepleslian scribbles.

After many years of helping his father run the Akishino trading business, Markus has a firm grasp on the many aspects of managing a business. These include finances, product management, payroll, and reading the stock market.
