Description
This fabric is the latest in concealment for immobile objects. Its purpose is to protect resources when manpower has to leave it behind. The fabric is intended to work against visual detection and also reduces detection of objects via infrared. Objects under the fabric are not exposed to solar radiation they do not warm up beyond the ambient temperature of the area.
It has two modes of working:
Cloak Mode
It works by transmitting an image of what is on one side of the object to the other.
Conceal Mode
Projects one of several pre-made images/patterns.
About Camouflage Fabric
When deactivated it has a charcoal gray satin like appearance on the outward facing side. The reverse side is black. This fabric is covered with a lattice of micro-light emitting diodes, micro-optical pickups and micro-solar panels. It is currently available in three sizes; see table the below.

While the fabric is powered, the energy level is relatively low.
Computer/power pack
The computer is in a ruggedized case to protect it against the elements and rough handling. It is attached to the camouflage fabric via a data cable.
It plugs into one of three standard 3 power packs available, each one supplies a longer charge and is normally intended for a corresponding size fabric; see the table below.

Limitations
Camouflage fabric does have some limitations due to environmental conditions.
Limited effectiveness
While the fabric will work under these conditions, its effectiveness at close range is reduced.
- Smoke
- Fog
- Wind
The fabric does not work effectively under these conditions:
- Rain
- Snow
- Hail
Unusable
Does not work at all:
- Darkness (unit turns off when ambient light drops below minimum level of the LED's. Otherwise the fabric would “glow”.
