Kalo Wood

Kalo wood is a type of lumber made from the wood of the Kalo Tree. It has been a renewable resource commodity in the United Norian Imperium since YE 01.

The Kalo Tree has been a prized commodity in the United Norian Imperium since Lorenz was settled in YE 01. The fast growing Conifer, it grows naturally on the planet, but is also cultivated in controlled lumber farms on the northern most continent of the planet. The Softwood lumber is a common Export and is generally utilized by artisans to build furniture, interior fixtures and other items. It's pulp is also utilized for making paper. Lorenz so far has been the only planet to support the growth of these trees, so it is often exported to places like Tsenlan in the Yamatai Star Empire. In YE 46.9 it was one of the commodities that had it's export tariff lowered when the Vespan-Eitan Dynasty government was formed to improve foreign relations.¹⁾

Some information about the cultivation of the Kalo Tree:

• It only takes five years for a Kalo Tree to grow to its maximum average height of 120 meters.
• It is illegal to cut down a natural growing Kalo Tree outside of an authorized lumber farm.
• It is also enjoyed for the faint sweet scent that is commonly associated with its native forests.
• Sawmills are generally located within the boundaries of their respective lumber farm.
• SSCC-Large, SSCC-Large, SSCC-Huge Standard Starship Cargo Containers.

Kalo wood is prized for its natural dark color and knot structures.
