Elefirn Culture

The Elefirn have a rich and unique history that adds to the tapestry of their culture, which is based on a basic and simplistic outlook on life.

More about Culture

The Elefirn way of life is one that can be described as oppressed. They have little in the way of freedom under the Kuvexian rule. They have the ability to fight and work for the Kuvexians, but not much else and there is little reward in it for them, save for the acceptance of the Kuvexians towards the Elefirn, which they have grown to rely on.

Clothing

Wearing little in the way of clothing most often, the Elefirn will sometimes wear strapless bra-like pieces of cloth wrapped around the tops of their torso and bikini style panties and not much else. Even in the cold season, they do not don more clothing beyond the two garments, if those are worn at all. Instead, they will go into their cities and towns and brave the storms from the shelters they have built there from the surrounding wood.

Their hair is almost always kept long and is cut rarely in their culture. They adorn their hair with flowers, beads, or jewels.

Food

Elefirn have two different eating styles depending on if they are on planet or off. On planet, they eat minimally processed foods, finding the land on Polup plentiful enough to eat from. Off planet, they eat many more processed goods given to them by the Kuvexians and other species associated with them. They have little control over what they eat, though they are strict herbivores.

Language

They speak the language of the Kuvexians, their own language of Teropula, as well as a version of Trade picked up from the Rixxikor. Teropula is a sing-songy language with many lilting sounds and questioning intonations. They are quite timid when speaking it in front of any other species and will often be seen whispering to one another or speaking in a low and difficult to hear voice.

Naming

The Elefirn are named based on what sounds pleasant to the child's mothers. Rarely are names based on real words of any kind. They do not bring in naming schemes from the other species they encounter, but choose those that have been in their culture, instead. Oftentimes, parents will come up with new, unheard of names, though there are traditional names that lack meaning, but have their roots in the culture.

Entertainment

Utilizing a common communication grid by way of communicators and pads, the Elefirn are very much so connected with one another when the time suits them. Despite this and because of the rule of the Kuvexians over many forms of their entertainment and media, a great deal of them choose to remain “off the grid” and in the bush, so to speak. Usually during winter when they need to stay dry and warm in buildings and cities, the Elefirn will take to using their Kelolulo, which are much like EM-G8 Type 33 Datapad or a AwesomeCorp DataJockey. In the summer, for the most part, these are abandoned and left for dead in their cities as they enjoy being unhindered in the bush.

Foraging

The Elefirn still do a great amount of foraging, especially for recreation as a sport, in which they go into the bush and spend days without processed foods in order to sustain themselves on the pulp of vegetation alone. This is made a sport by the contests which are held to see how long one can find food on their own in which strict rules are put on each contestant to avoid sabotage.

Sex

An integral part of the Elefirn's lifestyle is the amount of sex they enjoy with one another and alone. As sex is something reserved for parties of more than a few, masturbation is a common practice among the Elefirn. Several times a day, they will set aside the time to pleasure themselves.
