After its contact with Origin Industries, the native corporations of the Abwehran Star Empire began to fear a possible economic incursion into military sales. Most of their designs had been decades to centuries old with only refits to upgrade their lifespan. To make matters worse, many of the Origin designs had cheap energy weaponry that could overcome their reliable old Brefreier Basic Service Pistol.
To combat this, Kaiserlich F&E and Kaiserlich Waffenerbauer joined forces to create a better mass driver pistol. The result was the MDP-04 Service Pistol that was created in the Second Quarter of AF 260 (YE 32). Impressed with its performance, the Abwehran Armed Forces (AAF) signed a contract to have them mass-produced for standard issue to their soldiers.
