Bomb Pumped Gamma Ray Lasing Rod

Designed near the end of YE 31 by Origin Defense Manufacturing, the Bomb Pumped Gamma Ray Lasing Rod is a cheap and disposable sub munition for missiles and rockets. The Gamma Ray Lasing Rod uses the gamma rays emitted from a nuclear explosion to create a high-energy Graser, at the cost of being destroyed in the nuclear explosion. Each lasing rod is packed full of 100,000 needles made from Tantalum 180 dissolved in Lithium 7, about one part in four thousand; the needles are suspended in a lead/heavy water solution to take advantage of the Mossbauer Effect, which neutralizes atomic scale recoil for a more accurate and longer ranged beam. The lasing rod is encased in a lightweight ADNR casing, which contains attitude thrusters at both ends. The 'rear' end of the rod has a small gamma-ray mirror, to direct the beams generated by the rod all in one direction, while the front has a simple targeting system for acquiring targets.
