The fixed-magazine design of the 7.7mm Frontiersman leaves it somewhat outclassed as a modern military-grade assault weapon, though the long barrel and option of manually cycling the action make it a great weapon for hunting and precision sharpshooting. • Firing Mechanism: The 7.7mm Frontiersman uses a hybrid system that has three methods of cycling spent casings out to replace them with a fresh cartridge from the magazine tube – a gas tube resides in the small gap between the barrel and the magazine tube is engaged/disengaged via a button mounted beneath the barrel, when engaged the rifle functions as a semi-automatic weapon that uses gas from a round firing to cycle the action, when disengaged the wielder uses either the lever-style handle beneath the trigger or racks back a charging handle threaded onto the ejection port to cycle the weapon as a straight-pull bolt-action rifle. Despite how intricate this sounds it’s a rather simple system, with the gas-system being as basic as possible and the straight-pull bolt-action piggybacking off how the weapon already ejects rounds through the top of the gun.
