There is nothing fancy or grand about the devils death bell. The full concept is brought about by dismantling and retrofitting Freespacer purchased nuclear rockets and then replacing the payload with a concentrated reservoir of compressed Star Paint. When fired the warhead still explodes to a terrifying degree but instead of a fireball and EMP the weapon instead sends highly-radioactive glowing star paint for miles in every direction effectively destroying ecology and terrain alike with an extremely hard-to-remove substance that can hypothetically even give neko hyper-cancer.
While seemingly a pointless concept the death bell lives up to its name by destroying everything in its surroundings with sheer concussive and explosive force and then making the immediate area practically unliveable and literally glowing in the dark at night.
While weaker than most tactical nuclear weapons it ups the ante by going the opposite route of nuclear weapons manufacturing by making it not only more radioactive but also less safe in every possible way.
The DDB was developed as a weapon to deny access to areas for a prolonged period of time. Instead of completely destroying an area like a traditional nuclear weapon, it spreads a highly radioactive paint, rendering the area uninhabitable for years to come. The paint is made up of small particles that attach to everything they come into contact with, making it extremely difficult to clean up.
The DDB is designed to be carried by the heaviest of mechs in small amounts, which allows for greater mobility and targeting flexibility. The reduced payload of the missile also makes it easier for the mech to carry and deploy while offering very limited threat to the pilot due to proximity.
The DDB was developed in response to the need for a weapon that could deny access to an area without completely destroying it. The weapon was first deployed in a conflict in YE:46, where it was used to deny access to a strategic area without causing widespread destruction.
Following its successful deployment, the DDB was further developed and refined, with improvements made to both the missile's delivery system and the Star Paint itself. The weapon has since been used in a number of conflicts, and its effectiveness in denying access to areas has made it a valuable tool in military operations.
