The current lighting set up on United Norian Navy facilities and ships has been in use since YE 27 when the revolution of Leviathan Technology began to really take off. This lighting setup takes advantage of a low-energy, high-efficiency lighting model that has proven reliable ever since. Due to the reliability of this system, it has not been considered for replacement or upgrade since it was first deployed.

Main lighting on United Norian Navy vessels is generated by clusters of quantum dots, which allows for precise control of both the intensity and the frequency of the light. Due to Norian biology, they tend to not use anything in the infrared end of the spectrum. Simulated daytime is for 10 standard hours and utilizes a frequency of 450nm toward the ultraviolet end of the spectrum, giving a crisp and focused lighting effect. Simulated night time is for 14 standard hours and utilizes a frequency of 440nm, which generates a soft dimmed effect.

Accent lighting tends to be slightly brighter using a filtered plasma glow that generally appears blue or teal. These can be found integrated into spaces to provide enhanced lighting around control interfaces, navigational cues and orientation markings. This lighting system is directly connected to the ship's Ionic Transfer Matrix System.

Emergency lighting on norian ships is generated from a strip system of synthetic bioluminescent material that activates when light levels diminish below normal operating levels. Due to Norian biology, this is not always needed but provided anyway.

When quantum dots fail, which is infrequent, they can be replaced through the facility or ship's fabrication systems. Accent lighting damage is infrequent but requires a redirection of plasma through the Ionic Transfer Matrix System. Emergency lighting replacement is a yearly cycle, where synthetic bioluminescent material needs to be reapplied to surfaces because it can flake off when disturbed.
