Sonic-Flare Sidearm

The Sonic-Flare was developed shortly after the original Solar-Flare, a part of the laser tag project undertaken by Horizon during mid YE 40. This improved model was designed to act as a self-defence weapon or combat sidearm for Horizon security and anyone else who purchased one.

At the completion of the laser tag project Horizon designers discussed reusing the design of the Solar-Flare to create the company’s first combat sidearm. The weapon was intended to benefit their security forces while also offering a compact and effective weapon for civilian purchase with non-lethal capabilities. While the design was finalised in late YE 40 the official production model wasn’t released until early YE 41 due to complications with emigrating the company.

The Sonic-Flare is an abnormally tall pistol, partially because of the extra space requirements and partially to act as a fear boon for those carrying one. Its bulky size and included off-hand grip give the impression of a powerful and lethal weapon and disguise the actual ability. The overall colour scheme is a dark grey with the barrel and several panels near the trigger and grip highlighted in gold.¹⁾

When fired the small acoustic blast is able to pacify targets regardless of body armour or helmets with the exception of digital sound filtering helmets. It will not cause any bodily harm unless standing at point blank and acts primarily as a stun weapon. However the weapon can cause lingering nausea or headaches in individuals.

• Firing Mechanism: Each shot is charged for 4 seconds before being released. After each shot energy must be taken from the core once again.
• Loading: A micro core is slotted into the circular chamber at the rear of the weapon.
• Firing Modes: Safety (The weapon cannot charge or fire), Semi-Automatic (The weapon will fire 1 charge per 4 seconds maximum)
• Safety Mechanism: When placed in safety mode the weapon will disconnect the micro core but will not eject it.
• Weapon Sight: A set of stock iron sights are provided on the top rail of the weapon, extra sights can be purchased.
