The Emrys Industries Gravity Reactive Plastic Explosive or GRPE was developed for unique. It was first used in the cable for the Ge-P2-1a - Suribashi-Class Space Elevator in YE 33.
GRPE looks similar to the most plastic explosives like T31PE. However it is a two part explosive that when detonated the force is directed relative to the force of gravity. By aligning the explosive layers parallel to the plane of gravity causes the force to explode perpendicular to the force of gravity. If aligned perpendicular to the plane of gravity, the explosive force is directed along the force of gravity. This makes GRPE an excellent product for cutting stone, or large pieces of metal precisely. It has also been used for felling large trees by causing it to detonate at 1 meter above the ground.
GRPE is very stable and insensitive to most physical shocks. Detonation can only be initiated by a combination of extreme heat and a shock wave, such as an inserted detonator firing.
