The Emrys Industries advanced communicator or “Teikei” is intended for use on worlds or space stations with an established communications grid, it became available in YE 33.
The Teikei is a compact, communications device, the smallest and lightest on the market. The Teikei is meant purely for communication. It uses induction recharging, which means on a station the ambient energy makes charging unnecessary. In a city environment the Teikei can operate for twenty-four hours before needing to charge. It has a compact volumentric display for viewing text. It is also equipped with a text to speech feature.
The Teikei comes with a small ear disc to allow hands free use. The keyboard is completely programmable, each key has an integrated LCD that can display the letter in the desired language.
The Teikei is a small silver rectangle, it has a small text display on the top, and a programmable forty key keyboard. There is a small LED to the right of the display, it glows green when the unit is on. It flashes red when a message is waiting. On the right hand side there is a small slot that the Mebae is inserted into. This synchs the Mebae and charges it before use.
