Dasanteki In Roleplay

Dasanteki is a Player Character played by Craig (Wolf Ward). He is assigned to the SRSS Yggdrasill.

Physical Characteristics

Height: 5'11” Mass: 82kgs / 183lb

Build and Skin Colour: 'Teki is quite tall for a Yamataian, though his Geshrin body was just over 6'. He has a solid build, with very little fat due to all his travelling and non-sedentary lifestyle. Doesn't quite have a six-pack but has a fairly toned body as he likes to try and keep in shape as much as possible. His skin is very lightly tanned, just enough to be noticeable.

Facial Features and Eye Color: He has boyish look about him, many would call him cute rather than handsome or rugged. His eyes are a dark blue with flecks of silver.

Hair Color and Style: His hair is relatively long, stopping just above his collar and is a rich black colour. His hair looks like he's just got out of bed. After a wild night partying. It is pretty messy and uncontrollable usually but if he takes some time to groom, it can look half respectable.

Distinguishing Features: Apart from his boyish features, and messy hair, are his eyes which are a solid blue with small flecks of silver around the edges.

Psychological Characteristics

Personality: When he was young, he was a quiet and well mannered child, after his mother died, he became more withdrawn until his father got rid of him when he was eight. He then had to stick up for himself, becoming a little bitter and harsh. When he was twelve and united with his uncle, he was a little uncouth and wild around the edges. It took some doing, but before long, he was back to being polite, courteous and well cultured. He has a very sarcastic sense of humor and over the years became a bit of a prankster. He also has a fine eye for blades, with pride of place being his daishi set. Possibly a result of his upbringing, he enjoys classical and other 'softer' music, however during his traveling he also has gotten to like rock and heavy metal too. He's also a passable player with a guitar.

Likes: Alcohol, tinkering around with things, pretty ladies, nekos, having fun, pranking, drinking, lazing around, dancing, playing musical instruments, oh was alcohol mentioned? Dislikes: Getting up early, hangovers, pushy women, people who don't like to have fun, sore losers Goals: To make a name for himself in whatever he decides to do and have fun while making money.

History

Pre-RP

Born Urufu Tomoe-Ward on Neplesia in YE07 to Francis Ward and Misaki Tomoe. They weren't wealthy but had enough to live on. His father was a sergeant medic in the Marines who got discharged due to being implicated with several others in selling pharmaceuticals on the black market. It was never proven but the damage was done. He helped out at the local clinic part-time to help supplement his remaining savings from his time in the Marines. His mother was an engineering technician at a nearby college. She had an older brother who was quite well connected in one of the larger Yakuza gangs, who she kept quiet about.

Urufu had a pretty good education until he was five when his mother was killed in an explosion while at work. It was never proven what caused it but his father was hit hard by her death, especially since she was pregnant at the time. Over the next two years his father lost his job, became a drunk, started taking drugs and gambled away all the money, even getting a loan or two off one of the local criminal gangs. When the time came that he had to pay up, he couldn't afford it and with his mind being so far gone due to the drugs, he offered his eight year old son up in lieu of payment. The leader of the gang accepted this, thinking he could sell the boy for a profit, before killing his father anyway.

He was unable to sell the boy as Urufu kept playing up in front of potential customers, despite the beatings to try and make him behave. In the end, as the gang were visiting another town, the leader threw Urufu out of the car, leaving him to fend for himself. Over the next few years Urufu became quite streetwise, falling in with some less than savoury characters who taught him various skills needed by those on the street. He became fairly adept at stealing, lock picking and pick-pocketing. He even killed twice, which he didn't take pleasure in. He also learned the ways of the blade, getting quite proficient with it by the time he was twelve. It was at this time that his skills at stealing almost became his undoing as he got a bit arrogant and attempted to pick pocket a wealthy looking businessman, who turned out to be Yakuza. The 'businessman' grabbed hold of him and was going to rough him up a bit when he took a look at the boy's face and realised there was something familiar about him. Asking Urufu for his name, the Yakuza knew who he was, as one of his lieutenants had been looking for his nephew for years now.

His uncle, Tomoe Hiroshi, immediately got him inducted into the Ryugawa-gumi clan. The clan's main interests were in the black market, profiteering, racketeering, gambling, prostitution and assassination sectors. Over the next six years Urufu learned the various skills and tactics required of him as he rose through the ranks, leading a few of the smaller attack squads when needed. He had attained 2nd dan in a form of martial arts which combined hand and blade instruction, also becoming quite skilled in firearms, primarily in the use of a pistol, though he much prefered the blade. Hiroshi gave him a custom made matching daishō set for his sixteenth birthday. In addition to learning combat arts, he also became quite skilled in diplomacy as he prefered to try and talk rather than fight his way out of something. Even though he was quite fearless in a lot of things, when it came to women, especially pretty ones that he liked, he became a dithering idiot. A polite, well mannered dithering idiot.

Just before Urufu turned eighteen, his Oyabun and several of the inner circle were assassinated. Over the following weeks, there were various accusations flying about especially as it appeared to be an in-house job. Urufu's uncle and several other senior Yakuza were accused and executed. He decided to make himself scarce, just in case he was implicated. Grabbing all his stuff he needed to take, he made a trip to one of the more distant cities to lay low for a few months before getting off planet.

Thinking on what to do and where to go next, he still had some medical knowledge and enjoyed tinkering with things, taking them apart and try to get them working again. He gave some thought of joining the Star Army, but decided to hold off on doing anything about it. Some months later on Yamatai, Urufu heard about the Mishhuvurthyar assault on Neplesia and the staggering cost in lives and thought some more about joining. He decided to enlist, taking up an offer of transferring from his Geshrin body into a Yamataian body thinking that a digital brain will be useful. He then spent three uneventful years as an engineer, enlarging his knowledge and for some reason managing to avoid being posted to any of the warzones.

Getting disenchanted with what he was doing, he resigned from the Star Army and changed his name to Dasanteki Kaosu, or 'Teki for short. With what he managed to salvage from Neplesia before he left and his savings from the Star Army, including a few small gifts courtesy of a friendly quartermaster, Ufuru, now Dasanteki, thought a change was in order. He drifted for over a year or more, visiting various planets, doing odd jobs here and there, especially on ships where he was primarily helping out in engineering, but also moonlighting in any position that the Captain deemed he was needed, since most ships he travelled on were short staffed. Due to this, he had some experience in fixing up non-Star Army ships, and in some cases piloting the ships. He even picked up one or two more skills and interests on the way, including getting over his dithering ways when confronted by pretty women. Making some acquaintances and a few invaluable contacts in the 'underworld' as he went through the sectors, 'Teki got used to the lifestyle he chose, though he strived for something more.

Part-way through YE30, after doing a local job, he was slouching in a bar on some planet drinking his third beer and flirting with one of the waitresses, when he overheard an interesting conversation, talking about a salvage/recovery vessel operating in that sector of space. Excusing himself from the waitress, he sauntered over to the group and introduced himself while enquiring about the vessel. After securing the Captain's name and rough area the vessel was in, 'Teki, over the next couple days went to hire a small shuttle to head out in search of the SRSS Yggdrasil.

Service Record

YE26 - YE29

Engineer in Star Army of Yamatai.

Skills

Communication

Dasanteki is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from other characters through headsets, starships, ground vehicles and shuttles in both combat and non-combat conditions. Dasanteki is fluent in Nepleslian and Yamataian. He can speak and write both correctly and efficiently due to his parents using both at home, and can write reports, fill forms, issue orders under fire, etc.

Fighting

Dasanteki received and brushed up his hand-to-hand combat training, which was followed up with a rigorous training program to hone his fitness. He is skilled and experienced in urban settings, Yamatai-like conditions and in zero-gravity, with and without weapons. Brushing up on his weapon skills with pistols, knives, swords, he also trained with rifles and explosives, becoming quite adept. He never went near a power armor due to his height though he knows the principles of how one works.

Technology Operation

Dasanteki is capable of operating any computer system that uses the Kessaku OS, found on all Star Army starships. He is proficient in entering and/or searching for information. He also has a little skill with breaking codes and encryption being an engineer and tinkering with things, but his success is very hit and miss.

Maintenance and Repair

Dasanteki is familiar with and able to fix most problems with various components and systems found on space vessels and to a lesser extent ground vehicles. While not necessarily well-versed on how certain parts function, he can follow a manual and diagrams, and is pretty good with the theory behind each, especially with his recent experiences after leaving the Star Army. He is usually able to keep things operating within normal parameters even if it looks a mess and doesn't last very long.

Engineering

Dasanteki loves tinkering and designing things. He is a keen learner but to advance in this discipline, he will need either a very good teacher or college. He can build from scratch, basic components like a short range transmitter/reciever etc. He can somewhat reverse engineer some things, but don't expect them to always work after putting them back together. Several times.

Humanities

Dasanteki is fairly skilled in diplomacy and can talk his way out of or into situations, appearing to be more than he is but in a limited way. He is still learning the art after all. He also has more than a passing interest in psychology, especially since he became a bit of a drifter as it has sometimes seemed to help him out when negotiating deals which weren't strictly legal and lethal to his health.

Rogue

From his childhood through his teens, he has a passing ability with most of these skills, due to the fact he didn't have a lot of choice if he wanted to eat and earn some funds. He can pick basic locks, very simple electric locks, quite an accomplished pickpocket and thief. He also has some skill with stealth and camoflague, as he had to sneak and sometimes ambush his victims.

OOC Discussion

I did start him off with some previous savings from when he fled Neplesia and some of his earnings up to the current time when he participates in a plot, including the equipment he's bought or 'borrowed' over the last year or so.
