GIR-01 Gauss Rifle

About the GIR-01

With Powered Armor only existing for several decades, the Abwehrans have never needed a dedicated Powered Armor Rifle until contact with other species. The development of the Jäger Heavy Infantry Armor in late AF 260 YE 34 gave Kaiserlich Waffenerbauer a chance to correct the situation. Thus, the GIR-01 Gauss Rifle was created in conjunction with the new Heavy Infantry Armor.

Appearance

Compared to many of the newer Abwehran infantry weapons, the GIR-01 is a throwback to the Beschützer Series Mass-Driver Rifle in appearance. While the newest MDR-series rifles are more streamlined, the GIR-01 is blocky and utilitarian. While is uses a pistol-grip that is ventrally located, the Gauss Rifle's magazine is located on the ventral side of the weapon, behind the pistol grip, while the Nuclear Battery is installed dorsally. The camera-sight is built into a protrusion on the dorsal-side of the Gauss Rifle, which is located in front of the rifle's magazine.
