Devotopai (Rituals)

This page contains information on the major rituals observed by the Poku Saeruo Degonjo.

To the Poku'vonai, the Devotopai (rituals) typically mark a change in status or condition. Nearly all rituals are overseen by a member of the Kyn Lumu'ai Jael (Lore Keepers Sect) sect.

Holidays and Festivals are distinct from rituals.

Here is the list of Devotopai within the Poku Saeruo Degonjo.

• Fofipa (to cleanse) - Inspecting the health of the recently-born.
• Fofijo (Cleansed) - Children who pass the Fofipa above join the family and are named.
• Baqnor (move from youth) - A coming-of-age ritual at 16 years of age, or for aliens to join the clan and become citizens.
• Ismâopa Otunay (To Search Within) - A meditative ritual to seek guidance from Siamaka.
• Oma fofipa (Making self clean) - A regularly-performed self-cleaning ritual both physical and spiritual.
• Sumanâpa Punla (Making Family) - A marriage ritual, can create a new Punla (Family).
• Ânamuspa Punla (Breaking Family) - A divorce ritual, separating one from their Punla (Family).
• Siama'a Mui (Blessing the Leader) - Blessing the newly-elected Mui (Clan Leader).
• Sou Fofi (Cleansing Death) - A form of ritualistic, honor-saving suicide.
• Kavorây Ruoka (Oath to House) - A ritual to join a Ruoka (House).
• Kavoyâr Ruoka (Unoath to house) - A ritual to separate from a Ruoka (House).
• Sumanâpa Ruoka (Create a House) - The ritual to form an entirely new Ruoka (House).
• Syat Tâvygoai (Judge by Weapons) - One on one combat to resolve a significant conflict between Families or Houses.
• Jodaujo Lua (Month of Remembrance) - Traditional period of mourning for the loss of a dead person.
• Yoqate'ka (Communion) - A Tula-specific ritual which awakens a young Tula's abilities in Vit'taka (Plant Speech).
