Designed in YE 32 by Origin Industries, the Gauss Cannon is a heavy bazooka-like weapon made to give powered frames extra firing power against starships, and to serve as a light artillery piece. The Gauss cannon is a slow firing shoulder aimed weapon, with an equally slow yet long ranged projectile. The cannon has three different options as far as ammunition goes: a tactical nuclear round, loading with a small thermonuclear warhead; an antimatter round containing four grams of magnetically contained antimatter; and a net round which launches a folded net made of carbon nanotubes, with a length and width when unfolded of 10 meters. The cannon has a eight round sickle magazine, and fires 15 rounds per minute at .37c. The Gauss cannon can fold down, for ease of storage and transportation.
Ammunition | Damage Rating (Version 3) Per Round | Description | Cost per Round |
---|---|---|---|
Tactical Nuclear Round | Tier 9, Heavy Anti-Mecha | Round contains a thermonuclear fusion warhead, which detonates within 20 meters of the target using a proximity sensor. | 500 KS |
Antimatter Round | Tier 10, Light Anti-Starship | Detonates upon impact with the target, causing a matter/anti-matter elimination event. Warhead contains four grams of antimatter. | 1000 KS |
Net Round | Tier 3, Heavy Anti-Personnel | Round unfolds into a ten meter wide net, meant to catch and restrain powered armor and powered frames. | 200 KS |
