A Basic Communicator is a simple device, but one of the latest hand-held systems manufactured by Kessaku Systems for civilian use around the universe.
The Basic Communicator is around 12CM long when unfolded (6 when folded) and 5CM wide and 2 CM Thick. It uses a number keypad similar to a 20th Century cell phone and boasts stereo speakers, a small microphone and a Camera. It comes in a number of colors because the casing can be removed and the unit can be dismantled and modified, but the KES urges people not to. The Communicator itself is fairly sturdy and able to function in space, but don't drop it from too high or dip it in water.
The communicator comes with a pouch for attachment to a standard belt, but also features a clip on its back. Its internal, rechargeable battery lasts up to a month of constant use and is recharged in an half-hour by its small desktop docking station.
