History
Casualties of any sort are an unfortunate inevitability of combat operations aboard a starship, and the Model 44 Standardized Medical Bay attempts to make some attempt to alleviate this issue. Equipped with somewhat archaic if effective surgical equipment, it drastically increases the chance of survival for most yeomen.
Function and Design
Like all Standardized Ship Components, the Model 44 Standardized Medical Bay is little more than an armored box lit by harsh utilitarian lights, and is scalable to accommodate the vessel in question; though larger ships may have more than one. While not as advanced as other factions' medical facilities, the Medical Bay is equipped with a number of surgical theaters, diagnostic equipment, beds, cabinets full of medical supplies, x-ray machines, etc;
This ensures, as long as the medical facility is able to handle it that most injured personnel can be returned to active duty in a reasonable amount of time depending on the injury in question troops may have to be moved to a ground-side facility for further treatment.
