The storage of weapons, and really anything handheld that goes “boom” is a timeless problem regardless of where you're from. For a while, Yeomen would often carry their full kit with them when aboard starships-but after several accidents; including several negligent discharges of munitions that could been avoided, causing damage and loss of life the Model 44 Armory was created in YE 44 as a means for the yeomen to store the weapons and prevent future issues.
Much like any of the Standardized Components; the Model 44 Standardized Armory is little more than an armored box lined with weapon racks, lockers, and as much boom as the yeomen could cram into the thing, and is generally scaled to the ship in question, though they may have more than one depending on size.

Weapons for a variety of situations are usually stored in secured lockers or weapon racks that yeomen can draw from; rifles, grenades, shotguns, pistols and all manner of melee weapons. Additional Hardsuits and replacement parts are stored in a similar manner. Ammunition such as fuel tanks for plasma weaponry, charge packs, and bullets for rifles.
