The “Pridwen” is a deployable cover system designed and developed by Galactic Horizon in YE 40 as a physical, unpowered alternative to their Bubble Blower Grenade, it consists of a layer of overlapping Durandium Alloy scales attached to a para-aramid fabric that remains folded up until deployed. This is stored in a panel containing a pressurized canister of expanding foam with a foot pedal for activation.
The 1ft (30.48cm) wide plate is placed (or thrown) onto the ground and the mounted foot pedal is pushed down to deploy the cover. At this point the top plate pops open to expose the packed away scale-mail, bag like structure that seemingly inflates as the foam canister empties into it and the foam expands to become a cushioning layer that helps absorb the impact from incoming gunfire. In under a second the triangular-prism-like structure of the cover is ready for use.
Once deployed the Pridwen is built to be used and disposed of, they can be fixed up and parts can be replaced although it is more time and cost effective to just grab another one.
