Build and Skin Color: Renate possesses a taller than average build with the same Lithe or toned nature common to Abwehran. But she's also go very faint amounts of definition in her arms and abs from hefting heavy weaponry around. She's got a light tan complexion that's even all over due to her habit of sunbathing in the nude.

Facial Features and Eye Color: Somewhat angular but fine; Renate is quite lovely to see despite the seemingly serious nature to her eyes. She has cobalt blue eyes that change shades based on her mood, it's a small thing but an obvious indicator of how she feels no matter her words.

Hair Color and Style: Wildly spikey and punkish, Renate likes to stand out a bit and keep her mahogany hair in a curving-spiked style. She also keeps the hip length in back bound into a ragged looking ponytail.

Distinguishing Features: She always wears a small, smooth crystalline teardrop earring in her left ear. A good-luck bauble given to her by her mother upon joining the military.

Personality: Renate is usually serious minded when she's on duty or having to deal with military/security matters. But when she's off duty, she's a different person and likes to party (like most Surfacers do), drink and make merry. However, she's not quite interested in romance of any kind; seeing it as a detriment to service; and a bit cloistering. This often causes her to be crass or almost rude to people that attempt to start a real relationship with her or just those who irritate her. Something that is easier than you'd think. This is all the result of a normal childhood for a surfacer Abwehran being raised by two parents to be a good person and spoiled, being allowed to largely develop on her own. But Renate is responsible and obviously trustworthy, as well as a bit of a tease.

Renate had a pretty much average life up until she decided to join the military branch of the police force. She'd done this because she had been getting tired of living a life of spoiled decadence; it was just too easy. Renate felt like she was wasting away by sitting and being idle with her life and virtually kicked herself in the ass to change her life and try to make something of herself. At first she was just a simple patrolman, doing basic duties until she was involved in a few bad situations involving hostage rescues and putting down riots. For her efforts she was promoted and continued this streak of finding herself in serious situations and making it through. Eventually Renate was transferred into the proper military and given enhanced training to be a marine instead of just a cop.

Through hard work and diligence she'd make her own mark as a heavy weapons specialist early in her career and has remained there ever sense. Renate doesn't want to move from her position and worked up her way up the ranks while remaining in her niche. Then soon enough she was transferred directly to the newest destroyer: the HMS Remscheid.

Renate is fluent in Abwehran and Trade, after contact with the Star Army of Yamatai, and knows the proper procedures to write reports and fill out military documents. She also knows basic operation of shipboard communications systems and standard military communication equipment.

Renate has received training in basic close quarter combat using hand-to-hand, knife, and sword combat techniques. Her training has also included firearms training with mass-driver pistols and rifles. Due to her specialization with heavy arms, she has extreme knowledge of Heavy Arm usage and more moderate experience with the newer power armor systems. She's competent with them but not a master of their use…not yet anyway.

This also ties into her speciality with the Heavier weapons and understands the ins-and-outs of explosive use. Renate can build them and dis-arm them just as well anyone else with enhanced education in explosives. She understands just how important it is to pay attention to what's going on and to be observant of even the smallest detail, a skill she honed through this line of experience.

Renate can operate shipboard computer systems efficiently and can enter/search for information. Basic operations of ship systems and skinsuits was also included in her training, even if it is uncomfortable in those skinsuits at times.

Unlike most militaries, her training included learning basic calculus along with algebra and trigonometry. Renate doesn't like these subjects but knows just how important it is.

Renate always was interested in the history of Abwher and has been studying it during her times off. She figures that one has to learn the past to move into the future; it's the best thing to learn from the past mistakes rather than re-inact them.

She may not be the best, but Renate is a passable cook and can serve as that role on any ship she's stationed aboard if they don't have a consistent one. She learned during her childhood from her mother so that she could help focus on something. Her speciality is baked goods such as pastries and cakes, keeping the hands busy often helps her think.
