Levi is a newly promoted on-board systems engineer in the Nepleslian Navy played by Haniel. He is currently assigned to Cirrus Station.
Height: 5'8” (1.77 m) Mass: 164 lb (74.39 kg)
Build and Skin Colour: Standard Nepleslian build; a pale ivory, Geshrin-inherited skin tone
Facial Features and Eye Color: Soft, Cognac-colored eyes, slender nose, and clean-shaved; His cheekbones are rather noticeable, being high and defined, and some may wonder if he eats as much as he should.
Hair Color and Style: Violet tinged light brown hair, kept short per military issue and personal preference. One too many times he had got his hair caught in a ship cog, and had to painfully remove locks of his hair. Although he appreciates his Geshrin decent, he also tends to be a little weary of his violet-hued hair.
Distinguishing Features: An innocent, yet intelligent smile often crosses the lips of this young man. Levi is most commonly seen in his military issued apparel, all of which is kept rather clean and pressed. When viewing a schematic, or reading for long periods of time, Levi wears a small pair of reading glasses. He often thinks of optical cybernetic enhancement, but he knows he is too poor to afford such a procedure. Going along with his rather quiet and humble personality, he is almost never seen in public wearing a dashing suit, or sporting any flashy jewelry or badges. Levi wears things of practical use, such as a small digital watch that has been running for eleven years and twenty-two days, give or take a few seconds.
Father: Hank McDonald – Nepleslian, Age 57; Hank is currently retired, but was a staff sergeant in the Star Army of Nepleslia marine corps for many years. Driven and a workaholic, Sergeant McDonald never spent much time at home. His absence greatly affected his son's development.
Mother: Mara McDonald – Geshrin, Age 49; Mara is a sweet, caring woman, who raised her son as best she could. Gifted in bio-chemistry and other scientific disciplines, she continues to lead a productive pharmaceutical lab in Roger Wilco.
Personality: Having grown up in a household in which his father was primarily absent, Levi takes much after his mother. He is soft-spoken and humble; much different than the other Nepleslians he serves with. This often is the cause of much alienation and fractured relationships. Awkward around girls or any type of outgoing personality, Levi tends to stay in the shadows of public socials or events. If one asks him about his technical advice however, he speaks clearly and concisely, almost never steering the questioner in the wrong direction.
Likes: Organization, Reading, Ship Operating Systems, Quiet Dislikes: Confrontation, Dysfunctional Equipment, Pilots Goals: To garner his father's attention by serving in the Nepleslian navy, even though his intentions are most likely in vain. He also plans to take advantage of the opportunity to learn about a vast diversity of technology and systems.
Levi's father was “busy” through a majority of Levi's life; be it military deployment or backed-up paperwork at the office, he just wasn't home. So, Levi grew up under the care of his quiet yet gifted mother. Levi visited his mother after school often. While he was there he would watch her supervise several different labs at once, yet still making time to wink at him occasionally. He always remembers her winking…
In school, Levi was a gifted student. He never much cared for Literature, or anything that required a thread of creativity. He liked numbers and reality. Therefore, Levi naturally excelled in physics and mathematics. At the age of eighteen, he left his modest home in Roger Wilco and set forth to a local naval base.
Once he arrived, he underwent the intense Nepleslian boot camp. Puking daily after the morning jog became routine for the recruit. However, he excelled at the mental tests and was selected for the engineering program. The program was an intensive 3 year program that ended with a cumulative test that would determine his future in the Nepleslian Navy. During this time he served as a dock mechanic, learning about a diverse selection of gunships and escorts in used the Nepleslian navy. Not a fan of staying under the hood of vehicles for hours at a time, Levi studied the engineering material every evening in hopes that his studies would be an investment in his future and his ticket out of the garage.
Finally the biggest day in his life to date came to pass, his 3 year cumulative test for the engineering program. After 6 grueling hours of mathematics, physics, and astrometrics, Levi finally finished the exam. Waiting for the results was hell for the young man. A week passed, then another. When he was handed the envelope, he didn't know if he even could even open it. After an additional day sitting on his desk, Levi opened the letter. It contained details of Levi's testing scores, but more importantly, his acceptance into the navy's engineering ranks. He would become an on-board systems engineer for Nepleslian starcraft. Moving to a different division would please Levi greatly, so he patiently waits for assignment from the Nepleslian brass.
Having been selected for the Nepleslian engineering program and having passed the 3 year cumulative test, Levi has been sufficiently prepared with the knowledge necessary to design complex operating systems for a select number of Nepleslian starships. His training was highly focused on mainstay escorts and gunships of the navy. The C1, for example, is a ship of which he has much understanding. He is able to efficiently communicate with the on-board Drei computer cores in order to keep an eye on all other systems. He has several schematics and sketches of various armor systems, Nepleslian and others, laid out all over his room. Armor Systems and their implementation is something Levi is quite interested and skilled in.
Levi has never been a fan of confrontation, let alone hand to hand combat. However, given that he has been through the Nepleslian boot camp and successfully passed all physical tests and training, he can hold his own in a brief physical struggle. He also was trained in the usage of light, close range firearms. His aim is decent, but no where near a soldier's precision.
While studying under the Nepleslian engineering program, Levi served as a dock mechanic. He was a part of the a crew that saw to the maintenance and upkeep of a small Nepleslian gunship outfit. A list of ships of which he often found himself elbow-deep in include: C1, DD4-D-class Destroyer, NAM-S1-01a Hray Class Stealth Gunship, Heavy Gunship “Sunburn”, and the Troubleshooter Class Corsair. He's area of expertise is definitely found in starcraft; however, the man can still change a tire on a truck if it is needed.
While working on various starships or cruisers, Levi would often overhear bridge staff and navigators discuss different aspects about the navigation systems and and star maps installed on their ships. Curious, Levi has put in several hours of study on astrometrics and stellar cartography on his own time. Given the fact that all of Levi's navigation knowledge is purely based on what he read out of a book, and no hands-on experience, he would be most likely be considered a novice in this discipline.
Ever since he was a child, Levi has shown a deep love and understanding of mathematics. Be it counting apples in a tree or quantum physics, he has always been quick to learn. His engineering training in the Nepleslian navy has given him an opportunity to learn under several great instructors on various mathematical subjects.
Levi's true love is the brains of any Nepleslian starcraft. He is capable of operating any computer system that uses Savtech AI or Drei computer cores (for example, C1 or DD4-D Destroyer). Levi is able to efficiently communicate with any online system in order to run diagnostics or troubleshoot. He carries several basic armor, environmental, and weapon system hacks with him at all times on an small, external ship drive. He uses these hacks in order to quickly access any data that may be encrypted in case a system is corrupt or malfunctioning.
Even though Levi is an advanced mechanic and engineer for Nepleslian gunships and escorts, he has little to no skill in piloting such starcraft. Once he ran a simulation of a C1 and approximately lasted 5 minutes before a system malfunctioned and the ship was grounded. However, in his time as a mechanic he learned how to maintain and maneuver ground support vehicles, mainly the Nepleslian all-purpose truck. Whether it was a quick supply run or a long haul of heavy equipment between bases, Levi arrived on time, every time. Suffice to say, he has sufficient knowledge and experience with Nepleslian land vehicles.
