While outdated or decaying ships were used during the early days, a focused effort was made at developing not only a place to store the population, but also facilities that would fuel the growth of the new empire. While there certainly more reasonable designs that could be produced, the new Elysian senate pushed for something suitably large and impressive.
-It was decided that the new Elysian society would be housed inside of a new, massive, and mobile mega-structure. However in order to build that within a reasonable timeframe a more reasonable approach was needed. Pieces of a stellar pump could be built into the needed habitation and manufacturing areas. A ring of more than 30 starbases surround a gas giant in the 000604 star system, these starbases pass a charged particle beam between them. The beam can be switched off, allowing the starbases to fall inward towards the planet, and then reactivated in order to squeeze the planet with the starbases' inertia, raising them up to a higher altitude while squeezing a large plume of dust and rock out from the planet. Manufacturing areas are on top, living areas in the center, and docking facilities on the bottom for ~100 transport and work shuttles in each of the habitable areas of the station. The interior of the station is fairly spartan, having only basic accommodations. The entire facility can house 30,000 residents, and while these starbases were filled to maximum capacity almost as soon as they were built, by YE 39 sufficient capacity had been deployed to reduce overcrowding.
