The original station design utilized a frame of reinforced [[materials:nerimium]] in addition to hull plating and interiors composed of titanium alloys -- many of the modern [[faction:yamatai:yamataian]] building materials such as [[materials:durandium]], [[materials:yama_dura]], [[materials:yamataium]] and [[materials:osmiridium]] had not yet been developed when the first //Kōdaina Minato// station was brought online more than a century ago -- though [[materials:nerimium]] is a naturally occurring metal that even then was known to exist. Because entirely replacing the interior framework would be incredibly time consuming and expensive, refitted stations typically only have the hull and interiors replaced with [[materials:osmiridium]] during their upgrades -- and even that process takes upwards of 3 months.
