-Rory was originally a Nepleslian who migrated to Jiyuu after the first SMX war, her parents having both been ill, but too proud of their heritage and stances to ever return to Yamatai.  They took advantage of the free offer of a Jiyuuian body for participating in the United Outer Colonies service, and Rory, at the time, was forced to go along with them.  It was only after she had grown up a little bit that she realized her parents were fugitives who had fled from Nepleslia to avoid jail.
-Rory was afraid of her parents for most of her young life.  Her father was abusive, and her mother was too afraid of her father to bother, and her older brother always turned a blind eye.  At one point in her childhood, her father blinded her with a flashbang as a prank.  By the time she was rushed to the hospital, she had been permanently blinded.  She had been thirteen, and was blind until she was old enough to transfer into a Jiyuuian Ni-ARIA without her parents' permission.
-By this time the UOC had fallen, but Rory still had a lot of adventuring to do, and she found many friends on Asura III who helped and supported her.  She got a pilot's license, there, and then eventually got into the shipping business running back and forth between Asura, Yamatai, Nepleslia, and many other places.  She became quite worldly over those several years.  When Asteria took over the planet, it seemed to her like a revival of the UOC's original intentions, and she went to the Heled system along with a series of other settlers to map out and colonize the frontier.
-She is a member of the Wings of Heled, a porter's guild out of Glass City, Heled.
