LADAR (Laser Detection and Ranging) is used much like millimeter wave radar in the fact, only that is uses laser beams to scan and process the signal echo of a target. Using this, the processor of the LADAR looks for patterns in the data and is able to form an high-resolution image that can be used to identify not only the location of a target, but what the target actually is. It's ability to scan large areas with high precisions makes this an avid choice over RADAR.
