Designer: New Tur’lista
Since even before the Lorath reclaimed the surface of their now abandoned world, the there has been a pre-existing practice of telepathic communications between Lorath, and between Lorath and Helashio. During these telepathic ‘interfaces’ the formerly ‘Occhestian’ Lorath were able to induce vivid illusions in a person’s mind, to the point where an individual would experience a realistic sensation. These sensations could range anywhere from an auditory illusion (hearing things), to realistic sensations of touch, taste, and smell that were so immersive, they could be perceived as a memory.
Comparing to the long history of the Lorath’s capability of inducing such illusions, the recent innovation of the Lorath Neural OS has only began to explore the possibilities of such a flexible system, which could provide psionic and data interfaces which could directly simulate a Lorath’s telepathic capability. Through the exploration of this technology, the Lorath ‘New Tur’lista’ (formerly Occhesta), had discovered the capability to induce artificial sensations through the Neural OS. These artificial sensations were able to be repeatedly induced time and time again, reliably thus allowing for a reusable data file which could be used to allow an individual to experience a touch, a taste, or even a predetermined event through the use of an executable data file.
With the Lorath’s recent campaign of mass marketing and foreign trade, the concept of producing data files to be sold and transmitted to users had become an interest to the New Tur’lista. Seeking additional income for research, development, and rebuilding the Lorath race, the New Tur’lista developed a new form of executable file, able to be transmitted through the Lorath Neural OS and the Lorath Network, and to other networks and be functional on other OS platforms. After moderate data adjustment, the New Tur’lista have managed to produce a series of data files available for purchase, able to be transmitted to anyone connected to the PANTHEON network, Communications Network of Nepleslia, and the network of the Lorath Matriarchy.
‘Simulated Sensation Data Files’ are executable files able to be transmitted between OS systems and able to self-adapt to the user’s neural configuration. The data file is then able to execute a feed of simulated ‘perception’ into the user’s mind. When the data feed is executed and the feed is established, the user is then able to experience the file’s contents. After the file is executed, the file then self-deletes, thus making it unusable for a second execution. The data which was transmitted during the single execution is also self eradicating, preventing the data from being able to be copied and re-executed. All that is left after the execution is a memory of the induced sensation inside of the user’s mind. This can be explained as being similar to having a memory of an event and the sensations involved, but being unable to recall the memory vividly enough to relive it.
Due to the versatility of data management, the New Tur’lista have decided to use two different methods of distributing the data files to users, either through network connection, or through a data storage medium. Due to ease of manufacture, the New Tur’lista decided to market the data files on a solid data medium in the form of small coin sized data storage devices which can be interfaced through short range signal transmissions, or through a hard-wire conversion kit. These coins hold one to five ‘charges’ of the executable file.
The other means of distribution is through the pre-existing data networks; users can connect to a file server and download their desired executable to be stored in their own data storage devices.
Users must have cybernetic interface technology, or have a brain designed for handling data transmissions and processing.
To acquire a simulated data file, the user must either acquire a data storage medium which contains the Simulated Sensation Data Files, or be able to connect to the Lorath Matriarchy’s network, or an authorized distributor of the files.
When Downloading Remotely: Once the user establishes a connection to the file server, the user can then initiate a transaction with the distributor server, after the transaction is completed, the user may download their executable that they select. Once the file is downloaded by the user, it can be stored inside of their internal memory until the user desires to execute the file.
When using a file contained on a data storage device: If the user is unable to connect to a provider network, the user can purchase a data storage medium, which contains the executable file. The user can then establish a connection to the data storage medium, access the file, and then execute it.
The executable data files were designed and marketed to provide users with simulated sensory input to allow for the user to experience a varying range of sensations. The user can select a wide range of illusionary sensory input.
Audio: Simulated music, speech, soft chimes, nature sounds, and erotic recordings.
Visual: Visual filters (blur, hue, contrast, etc), predetermined immersive images, visual replays of events.
Scent: reproductions of scents such as forest scents, freshly baked food, or the scent of a person or animal.
Taste: Simulated taste responses.
Touch: Sensations ranging from the warmth of light, to a simulated massage.
The illusionary input can also be mixed together to produce fully immersive illusions, such as being in different place, or experiencing an event through another person’s point of view. Users can request files ranging from reproductions of prerecorded concerts, to reproductions of ‘intimate relations’.
