Information: The Neural Interface System has been researched due to the potential ability of the system to allow for increased speed for data input and study of data by the individual that would be using the system. With the assistance of the system an individual Lorath would be able to issue commands to computing devices without delay, examine documents as fast as the user’s brain can process the information.
Technical Information: through extensive study of the physical structure of the Lorath brain and the charting and documenting of neural activity and thought processes of test subjects conducting tasks involving the command and control of equipment a sort of “Operating System” program controls the input and output of data. The system interfaces with the user’s brain by detecting Delta, Alpha, Beta, Theta, and Gamma waves and interpreting the waves and impulses into workable data and mental processes, the “Operating System” then transmits the commands to their intended target device that the user wishes to interface with.
The interaction of the system with the brain of a Lorath of the Occhestian caste takes place much easier than interaction with the brain of a non-psionic individual; interaction with a psionicly gifted brain is conducted by the use of a “circlet” like piece of headgear that reads the electrical impulses through the individual’s skull. Unfortunately a normal brain structure is unable to transmit energy impulses with enough of an intensity to be detected through the skull without signal interference, to bypass this issue, users of the interface system would require cybernetic implants placed into one of the following; the cerebral cortex, the brain stem, or the spinal cord. The physical processor and transmitter for the translated brain wave data would be located in the circlet like piece of headgear for members of the Occhestian caste, meanwhile for individuals that are of other houses they would require the processor and transmitter to be implanted into them physically.
The processor and transmitter assembly together are encased inside of a module that would be placed at the base of the neck underneath the skin, side of the skull externally, or the small of the back below the skin. The processor and transmitter assembly would be accessible by external ports located on the outside of the skin covering the module, excluding the skull mounted module. The modules also include a buffer between the nerves they are attached to and a software program that is meant to block out harmful data and power surges.
The interface technology also includes an optional data storage module that would be implanted in the user’s abdominal cavity and would be able to store visually acquired data, data transmitted and processed by the interface system, or any other data that passes through the user’s brain.
The “Operating System” would allow for the user to have control of storage and transmission of their own memories and sensory input information, such as touch, taste, smell, and sight. With the aid of devices that can be attached to the module’s external interface the user would be able to transmit information and commands for a much longer distance, or be able to store or share data. The power supply for the device is a small bacterial charge pack that would be located externally of the user and would be connected through one of the ports located on the interface module. Through the use of the Neural Interface System the user would be able to easily interact with other users, control equipment, or store important data.
