Designer: Lorath Matriarchy Psionics R&D
Manufacture: Lorath Psionics Energy Supply and Genetic Labs production division.
Intended Use: Power Supply.
Through the use of genetic engineering and research of various strains of bacteria found on the Lorath home world, a new power source has been developed that is completely harmless to the environment of Lor or most other worlds.
Genetic engineering has been used to manipulate strains of bacteria and create new and artificial strains that have been produced solely for electrical energy production. Through the manipulation of the mitochondria of the created bacteria an increased amount of electrical energy is produced, and through the harvesting of the bacteria and the forming of large colonies in energy packs, the energy is then harnessed by a series of microscopic electrodes and the energy is then applied to a small transformer and storage cell, where it is then used to power things from small watches, to large computer networks and if enough bacteria are used, even large electric motors.
Fuel: The genetically engineered bacteria have been created to utilize atmospheric gasses to fuel their organic functions, upon times where a larger amount of a charge is needed, organic matter can be applied to the charge pack through a small receptacle, or a large receptacle depending upon the size of the pack, or the intended amount of energy needed or matter to be thrown to the bacteria so they can feed. The bacteria have also been engineered so they would not have an appetite for organic matter containing humanoid like DNA.
Containment: A Canister like container is used to store the bacteria when they are issued out for use. Built into the container is a small receptacle catheter that allows for items to be passed into the container for increased production of energy if needed. A small vent assembly that utilizes extremely small fans ran by less than 1/100th of an amp of electrical power. The initial charge for the cell is given by placing a small chunk of organic matter into the canister, such as a piece of table scraps, or a drop of blood.
Waste: The remains of the gasses and organic matter that is taken into the canister will be passed through the bacterial digesting and processing section of the canister, and through the use of small pores at the end of the container, it will filter out waste matter and collect it in a small filter system that can be swapped out when required. The estimated time for the filter system to be filled after normal use is approximately one month. With additional parts, the filter system can be automatically changed in some applications.
