Electrostatic Shield

The Electrostatic Shield is a simplistic system of electrically charged particles and time-varying magnetic fields. The main principal in which it operates is to repel or outright vaporize incoming projectiles through the charge running along the field's surface. However the amount of charged particles within the field is proportionate to the amount of energy being pumped into the system. Due to the innate nature of the system, the shield is typically close to the hull to ensure viable field strength as increases of distance levels off the charge resulting in less then ideal projection. This system is also ideal for use as a security field to deter intruders, or possibly as a atmospheric shield to hold in air should blast shutters fail or for pressurizing a hangar bay allowing for rapid launching of space assets.
