Abraqa Capmag

The Abraqa is the standard supercapacitor/magazine created by Djahet Fleetforges, and is used primarily for rifles and carbines.

Functionality

The Abraqa differs from standard electrolytic, lithium ion and polymer batteries in both storage capacity and overall safety. Supercapacitors differ by employing a structure that contains an electrical double layer. In this double layer, the effective thickness of the insulator is exceedingly thin, which, combined with a proportionally large surface area, grants exceedingly high capacitance in practical sizes. In this case it uses Carbon Nanotubes to store energy in extremely thin successive layers. These layers are stored within the outermost sections of the magazine and have an insulating layer between them, and the metallic rounds to be fired. There is also an insulated layer between the capacitor portion and the exterior. Ports along the topmost portion are used to load the magazine and power the weapon. While this form of magazine was designed for ease of use and convenience it would normally suffer from decreased ammunition capacity. This problem was alleviated by housing smaller rounds to increase capacity; relying on the rifle or carbine's solenoids to increase penetrative damage.

The Abraqa can be modified for 'extended' ammunition capacities and energy storage increasing the number of shots fired, but as a result the magazine becomes larger and maybe more unwieldy.

Overall the Abraqa is constructed of carbon nanotubes and high-grade plastics for durability and usually come in drum or helical magazine styles.
