Tuima-daho'te (Dance Fighting)

Poku Afirmu (Clan Crest)

Tuima Daho'te is the preferred fighting style of the Tula, and also practiced by some Qakla and Tuoro. Its origin can be traced back to ancient history on the Otâgolisoy (Birth world).

This style is more defensive in nature, but it does have some attack moves. It is recognizable by its graceful sways and spins. It focuses on anticipating and avoiding the attackers moves. Footwork, balance and spinning are combined but with a flowing grace. The attack moves are very subtle, intended to wound and harass. When poised the individual sways back and forth and many often will sub-vocalize their particular fight song.

Advanced practitioners learn pressure points allowing them to dispense with the blade. When the Âdaho'te Veltin (Duel Blade) is not used a folding Anokaotâmovi (Moon shield) is used.

Training

The basics are taught in the family home, and then continued in the Ruohui Giba'te (Academies). There are particular moves unique to specific Ruoka (House) and Punla (Family) as well as common ones. It is not uncommon for groups of individuals trained in this style to gather, practice and perform katas to music.

Weapon usage

The traditional weapons used are a Âdaho'te Veltin (Duel Blade) in one hand, and a thin sash with a small blade attached to the end called a Gulvisalapur (Sashblade).
