Not for IC Use
Developed in AF 260 (YE 34), the Radiation Masking System is the Abwehrans first attempt at creating a stealth system for there space craft. Rather than try an develop systems using unattainable1) materials or energy intensive systems, Kaiserlich F&E took what they already had and attempted to create a stealth system around it.
The system designed is not just a simple mechanism, but multiple systems to be built into a vessel. Because of this, the Radiation Masking System is for use only by designated recon and special operations vessels rather than to be built into every warship.
While all traces of heat cannot be eliminated, it can be minimized through the use of heat sinks and cooling systems. Depending upon the size of the vessel, a number of large heat sinks are used in tandem with a liquid-nitrogen cooling system to bring the heat radition of the vessel down to minimal levels. While it may be too much to expect drops down to background levels, the vessel in question can at least pose as a derelict or as a cosmic body (ie asteroid).
To counter Radar detection systems, an Anti-Radar coating is added over the vessels hull to reduce detection. While it is still possible to detect the vessel, any Sensor Operator must have a keen eye and good filtering skills to get by the Coating.
With the Radiation Masking System comes a specific set of tactics that can be used to increase a vessels ability to evade detection.
