The Hydrogen Engine, short for Hydrogen Fuel Cell Engine, is the primary drive mechanism for Abwehran Ground Vehicles. Using specialized fuel cells, hydrogen is pumped into the fuel cell from a storage tank where it is then pulled through an anode, through a catalyst and into the electrolyte. From there, it is pushed through another catalyst and the cathode towards the oxygen filtered from the air. As the Hydrogen passes through the Anode, Catalysts, Electrolyte, and Cathode, it produces electricity needed to run the drive and propel the vehicle on its wheels. The only waste product ends up being water, which is put into another storage container for later purification and use.
The hydrogen fuel is also produced from water. Specifically, fuel stations attached to municipal water supplies have devices which convert water into hydrogen and oxygen. Hydrogen is sent into storage tanks to be pumped into vehicles while Oxygen is released into the air. Of course, smoking is not allowed near fueling stations because of the concentration of oxygen above the fueling station.
