Since the development of nanotechnology, Abwehrans were in a constant battle with their own immune system in their effort to use nano-bots for medical practices. It wasn't until thirty years after nanotechnology's birth in Abwehr that someone figured out a way to increase a nano-bots lifespan in the host body.
Using a sample of the patient's protein structures, Abwehran doctors culture an adhesive protein concoction that they actually submerge the nano-bots into before implanting them in the patient. This shield of protein can give each nano-bot a lifespan of five to ten hours as opposed to the thirty minute to an hour lifespan nano-bots have without any protection from the Abwehran's K-cell immune system.
