Styrling Silver Special .45 Caliber

Inspired by the classic look and feel of the .45 Zen Armaments, Foster Kees Styrling began work on his own version. The weapon had to be sexy, tight and pack a punch, just like the previous weapon, and outperform it in as many ways as possible. The result was the Styrling Silver Special, or SSHG, is a highly reliable .45 caliber handgun that features stylish and clever design in a smaller package than the ZA. While it does have a slightly smaller magazine size, the weapon is also appreciably lighter and suffers much less from muzzle climb.

Firing Mechanism

Short Recoil Action

Short recoil operation differs from long recoil operation in that the barrel and bolt recoil only a short distance before they unlock and separate. The barrel stops quickly, and the bolt continues rearwards, compressing the recoil spring and performing the other actions of cycling. During the last portion of its forward travel, the bolt locks into the barrel and pushes the barrel back into battery. Pistols almost universally work this way.
