Styrling Longbow

With increasing amounts of strange “wildcat” ammunition being produced by amateur shooters in Nepleslian apartments, Styrling decided to create a rifle based around the three most popular cartridges made by these amateurs. Seeking out a way to encourage limited consumption of ammunition, and desiring an inherently strong action to deal with the high pressures found in these rounds, Styrling adopted the use of a falling block action.

Falling Block Action

A falling-block action (also known as a sliding-block action) rifle is a single-shot firearm action in which a solid metal breechblock slides vertically in grooves cut into the breech of the rifle and actuated by a lever. When in the top position, it is locked and resists the force of recoil while sealing the chamber. In the lower position, it leaves the chamber open to be loaded by a cartridge from the rear. After loading, the lever returns the block to the top position to lock the breech in place to seal the chamber. Capitalizing on the single shot nature of the rifle, Styrling has promoted the phrase “When You Only Need One Shot” alongside the rifle.

This action is widely recognized to be inherently strong and simple.

• Damage Description: Medium bullet and casing provides a flat trajectory at longer ranges (400-700 meters), fast-moving medium weight bullet enters target, transfers energy inside target causing hydrostatic shock, causing damage to tissue.(Tier 2, Medium Anti-Personnel)

• Damage Description: Heavy bullet plus large casing allows for an extremely heavy bullet travelling (for its size) quite fast. Trajectory is rainbow shaped, versus the flat-shooting 6.2x50mm and 7.25x64mm. Follows the philosophy of a large, slow moving bullet that achieves a kill with its mass rather than its velocity(Tier 2, Medium Anti-Personnel)
