The W3101 Anti-Tank Rail gun is a heavy frame-mounted weapon, visibly and operationally similar to a rifle or artillery gun. The rail gun is connected to the frame by an industrial grade, high tensile cable, which transmits firing commands to the weapon and keeps it tethered to the frame. When in use,the rail gun is held one handed by the Ashigaru. The Ammo comes in three types, each of which is stored in its own separate magazine. Ammo is loaded through a vertical feeder chamber, with the magazines feeding down into the rail gun. A rail gun is two highly charged rails. When the round is introduced into the breech, it strikes an arc between the rails, and is accelerated down the barrel by Lorentz force. The weapon has an internal capacitor that stores enough energy for a half hour of continuous operation. It has a maximum range of 2.5 kilometers in atmosphere, and has a theoretically infinite range in space. The rail gun is a semi-automatic weapon, with one pull of the trigger firing the weapon and cycling the next round into the barrel. The rail gun fires rounds at 3.5Km/s, and is theoretically capable of firing into orbit from the ground.
Ammunition | DR(A) | Magazine | Description |
---|---|---|---|
Kinetic Dart | 3 | Comes in a 20 round sickle magazine. | A solid needle of depleted uranium, doing damage from the sheer kinetic speed and force of the round impacting and penetrating the target. |
High Explosive Anti Tank | 4 | comes in a 15 round magazine | Shaped-charge round, a type of explosive that is shaped to focus the effect of the explosive's energy, creating a hyper velocity jet of molten metal |
Nuclear Panzerfaust | 5 | does not come in a magazine. A rod made of ferrous materials, with the nuclear warhead at its end is inserted into the muzzle of the Railgun with the nuclear warhead itself still outside the gun, then fired back out, launching the rod and nuclear warhead. | A small fusion warhead, equal to a few kilotons of TNT |
