Although the packaging has changed throughout the eras of its history, the Astral Vanguard has consistently used rations kits in three varieties, each designed to fill a specific niche in combat.

Mealkits consist of a complete ready-to eat meals that use an self-destructing organic heater system inside of a bioplastic canister. Along the bottom edge is an electronic tab that is pulled, which triggers the heating system and warms up the food while the more spartan Mealcan contains an all-in one cold meal that combines a staple, meat and vegetables. Least liked and most life-saving of the rations served to Iromakuanhe military personnel are the Mealpacks, flexible bioplastic tubes inside of a harder cylindrical casing, that contain all of the essentials for life in an extremely dense, sludge like suspension that comes in a variety of flavors.
